Overview

Microbiology

This is the study of microorganisms including bacteria and fungi. We use automated methods in the identification of these microorganisms and antibiotic susceptibility testing to ensure accurate results in the shortest possible time.  

Haematology

Haematology is the study of the blood and all its constituents. We offer a wide variety of tests including full blood count, PT/INR and leukaemia/lymphoma flow cytometry.

Endocrinology

This is the study of the endocrine system, particularly monitoring the hormonal balance within a patient. Examples include the balance between T3, T4 and TSH in monitoring thyroid function.

Clinical Chemistry

We measure parameters in the body which indicate the presence of a disease. This includes liver function tests, renal function, endocrinology, tumour markers, cardiac markers and therapeutic drug monitoring. 

Molecular Biology

This involves studying genetic material like DNA or RNA in the identification of diseases like COVID-19 and TB. We also use molecular techniques in identifying resistance genes in pathogens along with gene mutations associated with disease like the Philadelphia chromosome.
